About Me.

Hi, I'm Jim Aldersey!!

I’m so glad you’re here.

I am pretty fortunate that I get to do something I love every single day!

I live in Bendigo with my 6yo daughter Hailey! She’s absolutely the best thing that’s ever happened to me and brings me so much joy watching the world through her eyes. When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll find me outside somewhere, mountain bike riding, camping, motorbike riding or looking after my lawn! How I live shapes the way I shoot; I’m drawn to the small details and the way light touches things, often holding my hand up to see how the light looks upon it. Golden hour/Dusk is my favourite time to capture, along with real moments, quiet gestures and big belly laughs that catch you off guard.

As I write this, it has been just over 10 years since I leapt into weddings after leaving my full-time job with the Bendigo Advertiser, where I worked as a Photojournalist. I learnt so many valuable things there, the most important being the power of telling a story through my images. That’s the approach I take with weddings, I’ll be there to tell the real story, the excitement, the nerves, the crazy dance floor shenanigans, the quiet moments, the way your day looks, but more importantly, the way it feels, while always being ready for those blink and you’ll miss it moments. I like to think of myself as a relaxed photographer; I don't like to pose people. Sure, I will ask couples to stand here or walk there, but I won’t stage moments that don’t feel authentic. That being said, I’ll still move mountains to create some epic shots when the time is right!  I find that this way I can capture intimate moments that are real. I love natural smiles and genuine laughter in my images.

My goal with every wedding is to help you have the best day, going with the flow of your day and staying out of the way as much as possible. Think of me as the extra member of the bridal party (that’s actually useful!) that you didn’t know you needed. I keep the day flowing so you can just enjoy yourselves! A wedding day lets me be creative with almost every style of photography, from photojournalistic images and family portraits to epic landscapes. At the end of the day, I’m here for you and your guests.

By choosing me as your wedding photographer, I can promise that I will capture amazing images from every part of your day. You won't be stuck for hours in front of the camera doing cheesy poses. Instead, you will be celebrating with your family and friends and walk away with images that capture how the day looked, but more importantly, how the day felt!

While many of my weddings are in and around Bendigo, I travel and shoot weddings all over Country Victoria and Southern NSW. Regardless of where you’re based, reach out as I love meeting new people and exploring new places. I have shot weddings across Australia and even in New Zealand!!

Please take some time to check out my work! If it resonates with you, I can’t wait to catch up and chat about your wedding day.

So before it was just Jim, it was Justin and Jim. Two best friends who loved weddings and photography.

I’m fortunate enough that I got to work side by side with my best friend for half a decade. We shot weddings every weekend and edited all week. We learnt so much in a short amount of time from each other and pushed each other to be the best photographers we could be.

I started taking on more weddings on my own as Justin’s other business
(Lucky Camera Straps) started taking off. We still shoot commercial and action sports photography jobs together and even co-host The Camera Life Podcast twice a week.

You may not have heard of us, but I reckon we were pretty cool in our day!

Thank you so much Jim!

We have not been able to stop looking at these, they are amazing. I absolutely love the shot of us in front of the night sky. We’ve sent the link around to our families and everyone loves them. Thank you so much for all your work and help on the day, we really appreciate it - you went above and beyond for us and both families have had nothing but great things to say about you (of course!) We have already posted a few of these great shots to socials! Thank you again for everything. ”
